Thinking like Silicon Valley can supercharge Africa

Selected for you
Executive Summary

Andile Ngcaba, chairman and founder of investment group Convergence Partners, has urged African countries to address tech skills shortages in order to compete with Silicon Valley and replicate its success.

Ngcaba believes that African talent should focus on developing deeper knowledge in specific fields and building solutions for global consumption, rather than just for the African market.

He also highlighted the importance of cultivating an innovative mentality and creating an environment that encourages cross-pollination between different tech ecosystems. Ngcaba's investment group recently closed its Convergence Partners Digital Infrastructure Fund at $296 million, which will be used for investments in digital infrastructure to boost connectivity in Africa.
