COMSOL CONNECTS NOKUPHILA SCHOOL IN TEMBISA

Comsol has deepened its impact into the underserved community of Tembisa, forming a partnership with The Love Trust and other parties, as the Nokuphila School goes from strength to strength and expands into a brand new pre-school and teacher training academy.

Nokuphila’s new buildings use Comsol technology to access breakout communications from the primary school building. It gives teachers and learners access to WiFi Internet, IP-based telephony, as well as security and access services.

It harnesses the same enterprise-grade wireless network that powers hundreds of Comsol business clients across South Africa

“The Love Trust is a truly amazing organisation,” notes Comsol COO Darren Morgan. “Over the past decade, they’ve established several donor-sponsored schools as well as training centres designed to help train teachers in the field of early childhood development.”

The trust touches the lives of over 9 000 vulnerable and disadvantaged children, with Christian values-driven education that aims to raise a future generation of servant leaders.

Nokuphila, meaning ‘place of life’ was opened in 2010, with the goals of providing a world-class curriculum led by veterans in the education sector, as well as sporting facilities, social support services, transport and meals. Over 300 learners are currently enrolled at Nokuphila.

“We decided to get involved – alongside Samancor, Anglo American and some individual contributors – in order to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people,” says Morgan.

“The concept of sustainable growth is central to our business strategy. We’re passionate about leveraging our technology to connect local communities to new education and employment opportunities.”

Comsol has committed to providing ongoing support, upgrades and expansions to Nokuphila’s high-capacity network; and Morgan says that as the relationship grows, it gives Comsol’s staff an opportunity to devote some of their energy and resources to helping the school flourish.
